Can I put a Socket-A cooler on a K6-2?

I have gotten my hands on a system with a K6-2 450mhz on an ASUS P5-99VM board. However, the CPU fan is dying, and it looks like the fan was specially fitted for the heatsink so I need to replace both. Problem is I can't seem to find anybody carrying a Super Socket 7 cooler anymore. My question is, has anybody stuck a Socket A/370 cooler onto a K6-2? Are there any problems with this (like the size of the core on a k6-2 being much bigger than Durons/Athlons and such)? The cooler can only be 60x60mm at the maximum. Does anybody know if a Socket A heatsink clip will line up properly with the Socket 7 heatsink tabs?

Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks!

So the tabs will line up, and the entire core will be covered? I don't suppose you have done it? Sorry, just want to be sure. Thanks!

Yeah, it'll work fine.. I used a PIII coppermine HSF on a K6-3 PC at work, no worries.

socket370 heatsink and fan fit on a socket 7 so i would assume a socket A would too.. ;)

though socket A heatsinks etc fit much more tightly than old socket7 heatsinkcs did so you might need to be a bit careful :)

I built and overclocked a few K6's and used Socket A heatsinks on all of them. Just make sure there is clearance for the heatsink, and by all means used artic silver or a good paste. You'd be shocked at the difference this makes.
