Can I put a mini-PCIe card in a mSATA port?

If I have a computer with a mSATA slot, but I don't want to use it for storage, can I put a regular mini-PCIe card in it? This seems to be the opposite of what most people want to do (i.e., put mSATA in a mini-PCIe slot), so I can't seem to find anything about this particular scenario. Has anyone ever tried this before?

I remember reading that the connectors are physically the same, but wired differently.

So it would probably involve soldering something, if it's possible at all.
