Nope.

Do people actually play this frequently? I have both this and bf2, and SF was cool for a while but ultimately didn't seem much different and I just went back to BF2. I haven't played either in the longest time though.

I still play Special Forces, about 1/3 or more of the time I play BF2. There is only about 40 SF servers that show up after my filters (ranked, no password, not full, not empty, 32+ player maps, etc) so that is kind of disappointing compared to the thousands of regular BF2 servers, but they are the same servers that show up that I play at often. So I rarely have a problem finding a game. It kinda sucks that servers mostly only play Warlord and Ghost Town, since I like all of the SF maps pretty much, and the night ones are cool just RARELY get played.

I'd imagine the booster packs are the same way, but I mostly like SF for the maps (and tier 2 unlocks of course!) so you don't get to play them as much as regular BF2 maps.

You'll need BF2 for SF, so you could start with BF2 for $25-30, or I've seen places like Walmart bundle BF2 + SF for $40... may as well get this if you are going to get into BF2.

Is there a reason for this?

Yeah....unfortunately "EA" or even "DICE" I would say!

Don't get me wrong I like BF2 but too many issues to justify imo.

Each patch for BF2 puts it closer to what it should have been at launch; I presume they are out of the beta phase of BF2 now that BF2142 has shipped?

Personally I think BF2 is pretty good. There are a couple bugs here and there but they are acceptable. But no you can't play BF2 :SF with out BF2. IMO just get BF2.

Yes, I do love BF2, despite the issues. Anyways, I haven't really noticed any major bugs that annoy me. Can anyone list me the bugs/issues that make BF2 flawed?

You must have BF2 to play Special Forces, but it play like an entirely separate game. It even loads into it's own game when you want to play.

how does it play as an entirely separate game when its an addon to BF2? everything is the same except they added a few more guns, vehicles, and equipment?

its the same exact crappy game.

Squad bug
Double Reload bug
No rank bug
One-sided walls/map exploit bugs
Hit detection (Specifically with knives)

There are craploads of bugs in the game. But that's because it's such a popular game that they are too easily found and taken notice of.

That being said, the game is really fun and even after 500 hours, I still love it. With the stats system, there is so much to try and work for that the game doesn't really get stale.

its the same exact crappy game.

Special Forces is to Battlefield 2 as Counter-Strike is to Half-Life.

It's runs like a mod. Just like with Counter-Strike, you need the game that has the engine to run it.

Hope that clears things up for everyone. :)

... and it's only a crappy game if you suck at it.

http://www.hard-2kill.us has a "map of the day/week/whatever" server that we are happy to change out for a different map set... provided the requested map set stays populated.

No sense in running a requested map when the server won't get started and won't run but for a couple hours out of the day.

Drop by the site and request a couple maps and we'll change it if we think we can keep it full/running!

Only bug I have seen os I keep getting the "There is something wrong with your connection" error numerous times while playing. Efven after googling the error and trying the suggestions I still get it.
Very disappointing.

With SF you get new weapon unlocks, and was probably worth it as far as the new sniper rifle goes.
