Can I Phone order Staples then return item to store and use Gift checks???

Can i special order something not on the Staples website using credit or anything, then return to the store with my invoice or reciept and use my in store giftchecks?

So say i buy some for $80 from a csr, and go back instore with a $65 gift check, will they rfund me $65 and let me use the gc

AFAIK no. Gift checks and cards cannot be applied to previous purchases. And from what I remember, special orders are NOT in the regular Staples system - ie, if scanned they will not pull up in the system, so there's no way to recheck it out iirc. Maybe I'm wrong b/c customer service and returns were never by strong points. I'm sure freebee or buddabu (sp?) can answer this question too

thats a good question.. if you special order an item through IM you can indeed return it at the store level.. as far as rebuying it, its tough to say how they would ring you up without a staples SKU at the POS (point of sale). Let me think about this one.. or you might want to ask freebee... PM me if you have questions

see i dont see the problem cause i have would have the invoice with the price on it .
Have never seen this topic covered anywhere before. Just looking to maximize the usage of my gc's by buying say a motherboard,cpu or videocard. I mean i know i used in store kiosk to pm bestbuys sx835 deal. I got case for $51 shipped 2 day

it indeed does have a price on it.. the staples systems does not allow giftchecks to be used in a single transaction.. so they would have to fully return the item and then rebuy. The rebuying is where the problem is because in order to buy the item you have to use the staples 6 digit sku. If the item is from IM, it wont ring up. What is the item... i go into work at 1 today and i would be glad to do some research and see if this can be done.

hmmm. I was looking at say a radeon 9700,amd 2100+ or epox8rda+. I believe sparco has these. I wanted to pm the 9700 to bb's $300 then use coupon. Next go back in store nad use my 3 gcs's

if they weren't able to use the GC's in store, you could always just return the items and it would be a wash. Whenever someone returns a special order, we have to use a special code to enter the item into the register. As far as selling the item back to you, I have no clue about how they would do it. I thought CC, not BB had the 9700 for 299, maybe i am wrong, or you could wait for the 9800 🙂. I am not a cashier, I work in Business Machines so i don't know exactly every detail of the system. This is one of those gray areas 🙂. I'll find out though

Well you know how you can order off the kiosk and pay in store. I wonder if they can call the csr on the phone and order it for me and let me pay instore. The csr might be able to give them a number to enter in the system for the specail order
