Can I merge the power of a dual processor setup?

I have a dual 733. Originally, it was purchased to do a lot of graphics and video editing. Now, its mainly a gaming and office machine. Thus, most of its power is being unused. Is there anyway, under a windows environment, to force the machine to use the 2 CPUs as just one (733x2->~1.4)? I heard that this is possible in Linux, but not in Windows. Thanks.

Never heard of such a thing myself. Why not sell it and pick up a fast single board/CPU/RAM combo? I went from a dual P3 733 system to a single AthlonXP 1700+ (1.46GHz) and it certainly was a noticable improvement... happens to come out to the same total MHz, but it can bring it all to bear on single tasks like you want. What, $70 for the CPU and $55 to $100 for a board of your choosing, plus some DDR... you might not have to spend much after selling your dualie.

I would no doubt take your advice on that, but unfortunately, I have a Dell system and cannot just swtich out my mobo and CPU.
