I want to make a win98 dos boot CD with a number of antivirus programs on it. This is because my friends computer with WinXP got contaminated with viruses and he can't bootup to windows or even safe mode anymore.

Someone gave me a win98 dos boot CD which booted fine except that when I took the CD out and put another CD in with antivirus programs, the computer now in DOS would not recognize the CD or any other CD. So I can't get an antivirus program to run on it to clear it up.

I thought if I could include some antivirus programs on the Boot CD, I might then be able to run them. When I copied the files on the boot CD to another CD and included antivirus programs on it, the new CD would not boot.

And when I tried to copy just the dos boot files to the CD, the CD would not boot either. I guess it needs some kind of an image burn or something.

So how can I do an image burn of the win98 dos boot CD and also include extra antivirus programs on it. Should I use Power ISO to do that?

It all gets so complicated.

Your friend is most likely running NTFS, the 98 disk isn't going to be able to read his drive anyhow.

There is so much /fail here it's hard to know where to start.
Yes, DOS can't read NTSF.
The Antivirus you are using won't run under DOS
Any antivirus that would run under DOS (or 98 for that matter likely hasn't had any updates available for the last 10 years.

Look for Hiren's boot CD.

Actually, the Win98 Dos boot CD boots fine and fast on my HomeXP system.

I just called another friend and he said to use the Avir Antivirus rescue disk that auto boots in Linux and neutralizes viruses in Windows.

Thanks for the tip on Hirens. Looks good.
