You can if the DVD is single-layer. Just to make sure, check the size of the DVD you're trying to copy and make sure that it's size is no larger than 4.7GB. If it's larger, then the DVD is probably dual-layer. There's actually programs that'll split the DVD if it's dual-layer so that you can copy it onto multiple DVD's. Try this site for some more info.

I believe this program can do what you ask for, it's one of those programs which you just, click...click...done kinda things. There are numerous programs (freeware too) that will do what you want, just need to take a little time learning the basics. I recommend a proggie called dvd2one.

A lot of people like DVDXCOPY because of it's simplicity. It will copy the 'whole' DVD including extras, menus, special features, ect. - you will usually need 2 discs though from my experience. The program is also setup so you cannot make copies of copies, it also puts a disclaimer before every movie - piracy, blah blah stuff.

With DVD2ONE you just need another program (like DVD Decrypter) to decrypt or 'rip' the original files off the DVD you want to copy. DVD2ONE will then convert those files so that you can use a program like NERO to burn a working copy (movie only).

if you were to cut out everything except the movie and 1 soundtrack and maybe 1 subtitle, can't most movies fit on a single blank 4.7gb dvd?

I believe so, this is what I do - I am just interested in copying the movie only (for backup purposes only, ofcourse). I find that DVD Dycrypter used alongside with DVD2ONE is fast and simple. I haven't really had a problem yet.

I've been meaning too check out instantcopy for a while now, seems like that is the 'other' most well known and widely used program for these purposes.

instantcopy is alright for series disk but quality is still lacking, I tend to stick to CCE for real results. Ithought thet we were talking single layer disks here?
