Ok first off, somebody gave me an older comp. I need to know where and if I can buy socket 3 processors. Also anything that can help out older processors like that.

The main thing I need to know is, I have been helping this older couple with their computer. The older man keeps deleting windows files and then wanting me to fix the computer. I added some ram for tehm and their fan on thier heatsink stop so they called microsoft not knowing what it was. Microsoft told them the RAM I put in there was bad :| when I got over there to look at it, the comp. booted up fine then crashed i noticed the fan on the H/S wasent workign so we fixed that. Well he had deleted some windows files again :|:|:|:|. Is there anyway that I can lock the windows folder to keep him form getting into it. Could I go into propeties and set the windows folder to hidden. And then set veiw to only viewable items, so that he couldnt see the windows folder. Or is there a way that i can password protect it.

Thanks for your help.

Make him an account on the machine where doesn't have rights (to change at least) to files in the windows directory, you could be the administrator...I know you can do this is Windows 2000 at least. Or you could just tell him which files not to delete and pray he doesn't forget...

uh, go to FS/FT. I've got a 486DX33 that you could have for shipping. Dunno if it works though, some bent pins and stuff.

Set the Windows folder as Hidden and make sure hidden files aren't shown under Folder Options. They will still come up with a Search however.
