How bout if I never use the computers at the same time?

If no...
Can I legally install a piece of software on one computer, use it, delete it, install it on the other computer, use it... etc?

It depends on what software I know it specificaly says in the diablo 2 licence that you cant have it installed on 2 computers even if you own them both.

the EULA (End User Licence Agreement) differs for most. Microsoft allows you to install office in your desktop and a laptop. However anything more than that will require licecense.
For a home user I wouldnt bother much if you have 2 or maybe 3 computers, but then after that I would think of getting a few more. It really depends, if you got it installed on 3 computers at home and only 1 is using it at any one time you can get away with teh licence requirement.

However as I said EULA differs between software companines.

It may not be legal but they don't care about something like that that is going on so much anyway. They have no way of knowing either.

if you want to talk legality... it depends on the license...

some say multiple machines but only one person using it at any given time.

some say one machine.

and blah, blah, blah.

yeah, they would have no way to find out anyways....just don't be going into forums saying that you use this and this on that and that and that computer......

well I ask, because my Q3 cd-key is no longer valid... I assume this is because I installed it on both my laptop and my desktop... Kind of annoys me, now I would have to go out and buy 2 MORE copies of Q3 if I wanted to play on my laptop and desktop!!

If this is something with which you are concerned, then read the End User License Agreement for that software. It can vary from product to product. Typical license agreements state that the software can reside on only one system, but as mentioned, this can vary.

Regardless of whether you register the software, there is no way for a company to know how you use that software in your home environment so it is completely up to your own sense of ethics as to how you use that software.

But...

If this is for a business, however small it may be, then I would recommend meeting all licensing requirements. It's in your own best interest to do so.

Installing Q3 on two systems does not in itself make the CD Key invalid. when you play online, you there is an authentication process taking place that allows only on key holder at a time to be playing. If you are receiving errors about invalid keys, try again, often times this is an error only. If this is persistent, then it would indicate someone may have used a key generator and is using your key.

I don't know if there is any legitimate recourse you have if that is the case. Calling id and speaking with them may provide answers as to what your realistic options are.

Hmm...I have a CD-Wallet with all my CDs I use, ISOs, games etc. All burnt. Hmm, I use this wallet when I go service computers and build them at my house. Go Figure how many of my copy of Windows 2000 Pro, Server, Advanced Server are on computers, and the games and apps too!;):):D

Hmm should I have said that?
