Can I leave my DVD-RW as a slave device by itself?

I spaced out while buliding my rig.. how lame of me. I have two HDs, but they're SATA.. I was in the habit of putting my DVD-RW as a slave drive on primary IDE (slave to the master HD). But.. uh.. it's a SATA HD 🙂 So basically on primary IDE, I have one DVD-RW as slave.. there is no master. Should I bother opening my case to change it to master? Is it performing sub-par by being a slave device, even if there are no other devices on the IDE bus?

i prefer cable select. there's no fidling around with small jumpers.

it doesn't really matter if it's slave or master. just set the dvd-rw back to master if you're that paranoid. 😉
