can i install 2 sound cards in one system and use both simultaneously?

they will both work, but programs in windows usually will use 1 or the other.

yes, they will both work. you will depend on the individual applications to choose which one to use. if they don't have that option within the program, the program will use the default windows settings.

Just install the x-fi, from what I understand its got all of the features of the audigy (correct me if I'm wrong). That way everything will just use that one card, you won't get any performance increase in gaming by having two.

No reason to use two sound cards for increasing performance (it doesn't), but if working with music or sound effects, I can see some uses for multiple sound cards.

actually, i just wanted to test the x-fi to make sure it wasn't DOA.
was too lazy to take out the audigy. i guess i could disable it in device mgr.

that should work fine.

If I recall correctly, Creative's drivers don't really cooperate well with having multiple Creative devices (i.e. having an Audigy and X-Fi simultaneously) I might be wrong on this though, and your mileage may vary. If you use the onboard (Realtek or whatever) and a Creative card it works fine though.
