Make sure you have the filename correct. I've hosted numerous videos with my Dixiesys account.

yes, thanks. i tried that. pulse8 suggested i put it in the httpdocs folder.

i tried that as well.

btw, i am not linking it from an .html file, i wish to link it from an email i'm sending someone. i want them to be able to download the movie.

thanks in advance.

edit: is there any settings or particular folder it needs to be in?

Are you POSITIVE you have the case of the filename correct? I.e. if it's "picture.JPG" then trying to link to "picture.jpg" won't work.

Also anything below your httpdocs folder won't be accessible over the web.

yes, i am aware it is case sensitive.

here is what i'm doing:

i created an .avi.

i put it in my httpdocs folder

i tried to access it from another account (mine is set for auto login) using ftp into that folder. i get error file not found.
i tried accessing it from http protocol, pasting the direct url in my browser. i was expecting it to say would you like to open or save.. but, nothing.

If you login with your main account, and try to login via ftp from a secondary account, it won't show up.
It hides files not uploaded by that user unless they have full permissions.

As far as the http problem, have you tried right click -> save as?

If you just open the link in your browser chances are the browser is trying to load it into cache before displaying.

Guys, i got it to work. sorta.

Well, i signed on the 3.95 2 for 1 deal. i was trying to host on one of the accounts. both accounts are linked. the primary account worked, but i could not host on the secondary account.

all i did was put it in the httpdocs folder, as suggested, and it worked.

I'm going to file a support ticket and ask why i couldn't host with my secondary account.

Really, thank you guys, i was getting very frusturated over this simple thing.

I'm confused how can you have a primary account and a secondary account?

Doesn't each hosting account have it's own domain assigned to it? Then they are equal.

Unless you mean you paid for 1 (primary) and got the 2nd (secondary) for free?

i have to say im very disappointed in dixiesys
they transferred my 3 domains to the new ensim panel servers and ive had nothing but trouble regarding email. Their responses to my requests for help take days and the issue still isn't resolved. Problem is is that I use one of the domains as my primary mail server and it sucks when it keeps giving me relaying denied when i try to send email to someone outside of my domain via eudora pro

I have 3 domains hosted with Dixiesys (server 14 using Plesk instead of Ensim) and have never had a problem sending/receiving using an e-mail client.

they all worked fine on the plesk server but ensim has been nothing but trouble.. it might be how they setup my account. Before yesterday, everytime i tried to send mail via squirrelmail, it'd give me an authentication failed error
now its just the relaying error
