Lastnight I installed win2kpro on my ABit-kt7a Raid. I plug IDE1 W/CDROM, IDE2/w CDRW, IDE3(raid channel)w/ a single 45G IBM deskstar. MY BIOS version is WW, High point driver is 1.03b

My problem is after everything is booting up, my hard dirve seems very slow, my START button would freeze about 20 sec. until I can click on them. Also when I went to windows explore to search on my drives it will have a delay about 20 sec. then it will show all the drives or file folders.

Did I do something wrong? or since I only have one hard drive, I should put that on IDE1, and IDE2 w/cdrom&cdrw. leave the IDE3&4 open? or I need to install winme or win98?

your advise is needed.
Thank you very mcuh.

You can't have a single HD on your raid channel. Try this...IBM (IDE1 Master), CDRom(IDE1 slave), CDRW (IDE2 Master).

I am running a WD 20 gig HD on the IDE 3 Raid channel. I have an old 80meg running on IDE1, a CD-R/RW (master)and CDRom (slave) on IDE2, and no, I'm not having any problems copying and burning with those drives on the same channel. <g>

I did have trouble getting the HighPoint bios to recognize the new unpartitioned/formatted HD, so before I installed the other drive's, I moved the new HD to channel 1, partitioned/formatted, installed WIN98SE, then I moved the HD back to Raid IDE CH 3. Next I went to the HighPoint bios and set option 5, then back to the 'Advanced Bios Features' on the MB's bios and set 'First Boot Device' to SCSI. Next I finished loading all of the drivers that came with the motherboard. Everything has been working fine now for 2 weeks... go
