I'm going to be building my very first system soon and I would like to get some feedback on the specs. Will all of these components work together properly? Are there any potential problems?

Gigabyte GA-8IPE1000 Pro
Zalman ZM400A-APF 400w PSU
Chaintech GeForce4 A-GX82 Ti4800se DVI TV-Out 128MB AGP 8X
Compucase LX-6A19 Mid-Tower ATX Case
Seagate ST380013AS 80GB SATA Hard Drive
Corsair TWINX1024-3200LL DDR400 1GB
Samsung 955DF 19-inch CRT
Samsung SM-352BRNS CD/RW DVD 52x24x52x16x

I suggest Corsair XMS3500C2 or TwinX 3700... the 3200LL modules are not recommended for what you're building. They can cause Issues.

add a rheobus to control fan speeds.

get a quiet harddrive. not sure if that drive is as quiet as the baracudas.

here is my input
i agree with what mech said first off
next i would recommend a 2.4C, which would give you the same chip but at a lower price, simple o/c will take it to the level of the other, i also reccomend getting a plain old fassion PATA hard drive, for SATA offers no performance boost. it will save money. get some rounded ide cables to compensate.

i'd recommend IS7 for the mobo but that mainly due to personal preference
also, i like Schadenfroh's idea of a 2.4C. with the money you save you can improve your video card

get PRO!

Why should he/she get pro if he/she doesn't need the extra features?

I'm running home, and I am perfectly happy.

Edit: Nice system.

maybe because the 2.8 800mhz FSB supports hyper threading while XP home does not support it?
correct me if im wrong, i've read it somewhere on one of the anand's forums

besides if it's only $50 more why not? it doesn't look like he's skimping anything so why start on the OS?
