Can I get NT to do this?

ok first off I'll list what equipment I have to work with( at least anything relevant):
NT 4 Server with 2 nics
(1) Amer.com SR22i managed switch w/ fiber blade
(2) Amer.com SR24 unmanaged switches w/ fiber also
(60) win98 clients
Fiber backbone

ok what I need to do is give this group of roughly 60 client machines running windows 98 internet access. I would like to use the NT server as a gateway for those clients. Is this some way to use a packet forwarding part of NT to do NAT or some similar action? YOu may ask why not just hook up to the fiber backbone?, well the problem with that is that these computers are on a differant domain and really don't need to see the resources outside of that room. The managed switch can to set so that the fiber blade will dropp packets not coming from the ip of the NT server, so that should eliminate them from bypassing what i hope would be the gateway. SO my question stands how can I make NT do NAT or something similar?

on a side note is there any way when a user logs into a nt domain, to record how much time they spent logged on?

To answer your question on how to enable NAT on your NT 4 server, you will need a Proxy/Firewall software program. Windows NT 4 does not have the built-in functionality like Windows 2000 does with RRAS.

As far as auditing user access, I think there is a Domain audit that will allow you to audit successful and unsuccessful attemps into the domain. I think there is even one that will audit logging off. But, if you want to compile the data in a database format, check out either WINTERNALS.com or SUNBELT-SOFTWARE.COM for software that will do this.

you could go to www.NAT32.com and d/l NAT from there. i think it will only
cost you a nominal fee and you'll be set. A friend of mine uses it and loves it.
