can I get my Brother HL-2040 on my network

Very happy with our Brother HL-2040 printer, but would like to be able to print from my wife's laptop without having to go down to my office in the cellar and turn my computer on. The printer runs off that one.

I have a LinkSys BEFSR41 router, and the laptop uses a NetGear wireless router from that.

From what little i have read today, it looks like I would need to get something called a print server. Then the printer could be its own item on the network, not just attached to my computer.

Is that the way to go, or better to just buy a network printer?

In principle, you need something like this.
You plug the printer with USB cable to this device and plug the device to a port of the Router.

Why in principle?

Because these devices are somewhat a ?crap shoot? when it comes to compatibility.

Best is to get a Network ready Printer.
