Usually because people ignore the question from the person that necroed the thread and start talking about the OP again.

depends on the state, in CA, they could. Since, it is an "At Will" employment.
likewise, you can leave anytime you want, a 2 weeks notice is not required, other than by common courtesy

my husband was hired 2 years ago at a company. He was arrested 2 weeks after he was hired, he never told his employer. To date he has not gone to trial and has not been convicted of anything. Yesterday his employer notified him that they were doing an investigation into this and suspended him until further notice. We are not sure how they found out, maybe just decided to do a background check after 2 years. Can they legally fire him for this? He did not lie on his application and the arrest has nothing to do with his employer or his job performance.

How the fuck did you find this thread?

Lizzi, we'll need pics of you to help us determine if he can be fired or not. Please post.

Check with the laws in your state. Here you can be fired without cause at all just well... because and you have no recourse to challenge other than through your upcoming Unemployment hearing.
In Maryland the only law is that you cannot be fired for protected reasons (race, religion, age, gay). But even then as long as the boss doesn't send out a memo announcing he's firing all the black people today or something, good luck proving that. Again, they don't have to give any reason or even formally notify you. They can just change the locks after you go home, mail your last check, and you're done. It's called "at will" employment, and the will is not yours.

Well...actually, yes it is. In addition to the employer being able to "fire" anyone he wants for almost any reason he wants, employees are also free to quit the job for any reason they want. No notice required by law, no reason need be given. Just stop showing up and have them mail your final check.

Hey I started a job last March and I've been working there for 3 months but my Manager said he needs to do a background check and drug then sent me home and thought me to wait for the results. He said that he would compensated me for time I've missed, I have not been arrested and I don't do drugs. Can for some reason he fire me even if I pass the background check and drug test?
I've not been late I came in as scheduled "(I've even won a perfect attendance award)". Can this happen or am I just overreacting?
