Hi,

Recently I had a kirby salesman convince me to get a vacuum. Needless to say I didn't spend the $2k to get it new, I went on ebay and picked up a refurb for about $400.

I got it mainly because of its benefits for allergy sufferers. I have horrible allergies and have been told the kirby will do wonders for it. The salesman said I can claim the vacuum as a health expense deduction on fed. income taxes, since I suffer from allergies. Is this true? I am really skeptical.

Thanks!

i think that qualifies.

The health deduction is very liberal from my understanding. the one case i remeber not qualifying is $ spent for moving to other states because of allergies. Other than most, mostly anything will pass muster under the health deduction

The test is if the primary purpose of the purchase for health reasons? looks like this will work

If $400 represents 7.5% of your adjusted gross income, its time to get a better job.
