Can i get a Droid X from Verizon, with DATA ONLY?

Seeing as they make tons more money making people have a voice+data plan on all smartphones, I don't see them changing that at all for LTE. I really wish they'd do what you propose but we all know they could care less about making things more convenient for us consumers.

Has there been any talk or discussion of an all data (4G) network being cheaper to set-up and maintain than a comparable voice + data network.

Or you could have easily used google to figure it out before looking like a dumbass. But since you insist - GV + Sipdroid + VOIP provider of choice = free calls, NO minutes used. There, that should get you started.

Supply and demand at work my friend. Supply and demand. The demand for these things (droid x sold out for a month, android sales 200,000 a month) is so great, they have no incentive to lower prices on those plans.

VOIP provider is free? I don't think so...

Mine is... at least for inbound calls. I use SIPgate. For outbound calls, I dial out with Google Voice, which calls me over the VOIP line (for free), then dials and connects the other party. For free.
