Can i flash the bios with an unspported cpu installed?

i've got an opteron 170 installed in my asus a8n-sli (bios 1012). everything runs well, for the most part. can i flash the bios to 1014 WITH the opteron installed? the 1012 bios supports dual core x2s, but not opterons.
 
If it works fine then sure. Most mobos never list opteron support but only x2. Same as with Intel boards not mentioning Xeon CPU support, but they work fine.
 
Hey if it's running now...then you can flash it sure. Just make sure you don't do it inside windows. I've killed a board that way.
