I just bought a 2gb key from Microcenter that they had on sale for $15. Do I really need the software that auto starts when I plug it in? Or do I need the eject button to be pushed before I pull it out?

I deleted the software on the 1GB version I picked up months ago. Using the eject button just makes sure the system flushes its write cache to the key to prevent data loss.

I delete the software on any we get in work and the eject thing (if you mean in the windows system tray) can be ignored as long as you don't yank it while in the middle of writing to it.

You should be able to with no problem. But you might want to save it on a folder on your
pc in case you want it later.

If you are talking about the U3 software you'll need an uninstall app to delete it - formating or deleting won't work. I personally hate U3 software

I've got a drive with U3 software myself, and I hate it. I have a mac and it isn't even compatible with it, so every time I put the dongle in it loads both the drive and the U3 as another drive.

Does anyone know how to get rid of the U3 software? where do you get the uninstall app?

Thanks

Of course, the U3 uninstall app is a MS-DOS EXECUTABLE. Jeez, the whole reason I wanted to get rid of it was b/c I'm on a MAC, now I can't even run the uninstaller......

All you have to do is format the flash memory drive. You can do anything you want. Today, I did that and created a bootable thumb drive out of the result. Cool!

If the flash drive is correctly designated in policies as optimized for quick removal, there is no write cache. It then is, as it should be, hot pluggable and unpluggable.
