Can I Dual Boot OS X Leopard on my Dell 530?

I've been reading some articles about building a Hackintosh (I guess I'm interested in having a MAC but I sure as hell don't want to pay Apple what they want for those rip-off systems).

My PC is a Dell 530 (as listed in my signature). Relatively new (got it in March). I was wondering...can I simply install a second hard drive and install OS X onto it and through my BIOS enable/disable whichever hard drive (Vista or OS X) I want to use? Can the Dell handle it? It seems to be powerful enough compared to some of the Hackintosh hardware recommendations out there. Thanks!

Legally you can't install OS X on anything but a MAC. But your biggest problem isn't getting the OS to install. The biggest problem is getting the OS to work with your components. Its not going to have proper drivers for things like the video card and sound card.

That's not quite accurate. The EULA for OSX states that it may only be installed on Apple-branded hardware, but in practice, Apple doesn't want anyone selling systems with the OS loaded, or charging for related services. Their attitude toward individuals installing OSX on their own systems is indifference, and at this point they're not adding anything extra to intentionally lock people out.

Of course they have - it's just been circumvented....

That said it installs on the 530.

Really?!?! Have you done it or someone you know? I'm really encouraged by that possibility. As pointed out, I guess drivers would be the concern.

now if everybody could install OSX for free on their PC, Apple would suffer. They definitely want to keep number of such people as low as possible - they could switch to a MAC system eventually.

OSX is made in a such way so only hardware present in MAC works. It is pain to install drivers for unsupported hardware.

OSX on a non-Mac PC is only a novelty.
Like lava lamps, it's cool for a while, but nobody lights their homes with lava lamps.

I have wanted a lava lamp for years, specifically a light blue/green oil and dark blue wax one, and I know that as soon as I get it it'll last me 7 days and then the fun will wear off 🙁.

Blain couldn't have put it much better^ ^

rogue star, I too kinda want a lava lamp but have the exact same thoughts running though my head everytime I see one too! lol
