hey hey let's calm down a bit...

yo you spelled genius wrong hehe <oops i spelled some stuff wrong too>

yes the open motherboard thing would be awesome, but then the mobo companies wouldn't do that to make more profits i think.

and also, i agree that the bios will definitely not support the new northbridge. i think the chances of it working are more like 0%. I would try it myself, but i don't have my own kt133 board, nor can i just find a northbridge by itself.

if you are trying to do this for the money that you can get from doing this for other people, i would really be careful, i would be pissed if someone tried to upgrade my northbridge and hosed my board. the motherboard stuff is really sensitive and fragile, and besides the bios, i can't really recommend swapping out parts like it's a pci add in card or something - at least until a company comes out with a "standard" board that we are talking about.

actually, you know what guys, I got an idea.
When KT7 RAID-A comes out, I will get one, and then replace the board with my original one which is KT7RAID, then return it get my money back, this way, it's free!
However, before I return it, I need to add a "A" white print on my original board, hopefully I will be able to duplicate the print precisely.

actually, I think all I need to do for BIOS is flash it with the new BIOS for KT7 RAID-A. Since the boards are EXACTLY same, besides the north bridge. Only if Abit did modify the circut

Is the bios chip going to be the same though? and marking and "A" next to the name is pretty low, but hey, it's your board =P

okay, let's forget about Modifying the North Bridge for now.
I have an new idea, as I wrote above. Buy a new KT7-RAID A board, then mark the "A" on my old board and return it. What do you think?

Why are you talking about commiting a crime? CRIME=NOT GOOD. I may have done some bad stuff before, but marking a board and ripping off a small store (i am guessing you are gonna get it locally...) is pretty low.

resist the temptation... why don't you buy the new board and then using the old board, make a system for charity? That's what i usually do. Just built a Celeron 450 (oc'ed couldn't resist) system with 96mb ram for this poor family...

hehe "A" may not turn out so great... but then we don't know yet do we? By meaning 133mhz support, is it only for the ram, or is it also for the 266mhz bus support? if the new "A" supports 266mhz t-birds, then don't you need to get a new proc?

That's from OCWORKBENCH
ABIT KT7A creating waves! / Ken 7:12am GMT

Another Leap! KT133A chipset based ABIT KT7A has made it again. This time round, we managed to overclocked our Duron 600 to 7.5x140 = 1050Mhz.

133mhz ram does exist now because it can be run +33 of host clock.

all AMD cpus are 100mhz (200ddr)now.

But with 133 (266) it would be just like OC a pIII 100mhz cpu to 133mhz.

heh 180? The kingmax one is 2-2-3 right? heard it could to 2-2-2 though, but yeah well pc150 if you have a kt board can't you at least overclock it to like 108mhz and then add 33 to the memory clock speed?
