I Saw that I have a HUGE amount of files in the C:\Documents and Settings\d\Local Settings\Temp folder including

large photoshop files
large Norton AV files etc.

Can I delete these safely? Its occupying 3GB almost and I cant even defrag the C drive now.

Those are temporary files. You can delete them. You may not be able to delete a few of them that are in use.
You can run "Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Disk Cleanup" and select the drive. One of the folders that will be cleaned up is that same folder.

Thanks But when I tried system tools/Disc cleanup it did not get deleted - I am planning to manually delete them. Is that OK? To delete the entire contents of that folder. I am using Win xp by the way.

What are the 'large Norton AV' file in the temp dir? And yes, you can just nuke that directory. But if you have 3 gig in there, something seems wrong...

I just checked and its down to about 2gb after I deleted a lot of photoshop files. The largest files there are *LOADS* of Norton Antivirus and Norton systemworks files that are about 3-4MB each and sound like this:

Norton Systemworks 2004 Professional 1-28-2005 16h3m52s

and
Norton antivirus 2005 1-28-2005 16h45m56s

etc.

You sure those aren't left over files after you downloaded those apps from a peer-to-peer network?
