Can I connect my Hackintosh Dell Mini 9 to a PC monitor?

Can I connect my Hackintosh Dell Mini 9 running Snow Leopard 10.6.4 to a PC monitor? I tried it and the Dell Mini monitor and the PC became distorted like watching NTSC TV on Pal signal.

Did you try setting the resolution under system preferences and display? Not sure what the max.resolution would be.

I think it outputs 1024 x 600, like the Mini's screen.

You could get a usb video card (http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Newer%20Technology/VIDU2DVIA/), but it is kind of expensive.

There is some trick mentioned over at My Dell Mini where you can get 1024 x 768 resolution on Mini screen, and presumably same thing would be on mirrored display.

I have the same setup except that I'm running 10.6.5. The trick is that it does not work if mirroring is turned on.

Here is the solution from another forum:
open terminal first (without 2nd screen plugged in)
type "mirroring off" (without quotes) but don't hit return
connect 2nd display
wait a few seconds then hit return and it should reset the display to two seperate screens at different resolutions

Thanks for the help. Although the command didn't work for me. I ended up using one of the utility recommended in the dellmini thread. Anyway to make the monitor main display?
