Can i carry chinese takeout with me onto the plane?

depends where you are flying and if you finish your food... if you finish no problem... but you cnat transport food of any animal product

Some airlines don't allow you to consume your own food/drink on the plane (so you'll be forced to buy their food/drink).

Sometimes the TSA will not let you put unpacked food on the conveyer belt (probably afraid of spills), haven't tried to do it in a while so they may have changed.

Most airplanes I have been on allow you to bring food onboard. Depending on how your Chinese food smells, however, bringing it on might be seen as impolite to those around you.

The food I've brought always consisted of something like a cold sandwich.

Leaving Laguarda (sp) Airport last year, I carred on 4 calzones wrapped in tin foil. Going thru security check, I told them what it was - but they didn't even check it or scan it. Just put it off to the side and gave it back to me when I was finished.

chinese foods have a distinct smell - good or bad doesn't matter... why not eat it before you board ?

I would hope others around me have some consideration if the food has a stronger smell...

If you can get it past security, or can buy it inside the secured area, chances are you can take it on the plane.

I know Chili's has many restaurants inside the secured areas, and also sells food to go so you can take it on the plane.

With most airlines foregoing food service these days, many people take on carry out.

I bring fast food on the plane all the time. Never had a problem. Might be better off getting something from a restaurant in the airport than something outside though... Any Chinese places in the airport?

After reading your post topic/summary again, do you mean you want to take it to your destination (as opposed to eating on a plane) ? If so, I don't think that'd be a problem... unless it's a really long flight and it could start to smell.

Not a problem, unless it is an international flight. You will not get through customs with a bag of food.
