ok, i don't know where to post this but i thought a PM to the mod on duty would suffice. since there's no answer, and a few of us are wondering what happened, maybe it's a "forum issue"...
i made a thread here which got locked. i don't know why it got locked, but it kind of bothers me since i thought it was a reasonable question that would bring about an intellectual discussion (after i clarified it for those who kept saying "wtf").
basically, i just want to know why these threads are getting locked. i've already gotten PMs from others on this board asking me if i know why the thread got locked -- no, i don't have a clue why someone would just go locking a decent thread. the mod who locked it should have really said something to me in PM at least.
i know that there are people on ATOT who ruin good discussions for their own sole benefit, but that should not be the fault of anyone but those people -- and such POSTS (not threads) should be purged and the entire thread should not be locked. that's not fair to the rest of us who really want to have a normal discussion.
granted, there are idiots on the boards (hence that one post that i made using the term "idiots" to "defend" myself). granted, there are also stupid threads that seem to lower the quality of ATOT -- and i'm definitely NOT the first one to say that. but this is not a reason to lock threads that aren't harmful in any way (e.g. compared to the threads that are currently locked).
all i want to know is why this thread got locked when it wasn't insulting nor demeaning. it was a decent question that i was working to clarify (it got locked while i was attempting to edit the thread) and i don't get it. did i do something wrong?
