I am wondering if it is possible to apply arctic silver 5 on my 7800gt to lower it temperature since recentlt it show a sigh of overheating. If so, how do I go around and do it?

I did it with my 8800 and well it didnt affect the temps one bit, running the fan at 85% with Riva does alot better.

as others have stated, it would not be a problem. remove the heatsink, wipe up the old paste, use a coffee filter with some high percentage rubbing alcohol to wipe down the gpu and heatsink (really cleans the old paste), then apply the new paste.

Didn't make one bit of difference for me. As the other poster mentioned, increasing fan speed using RivaTuner was far more effective.
