Can I add a ssd to a dell xps 8500 desktop as a secondarty hdd?

thanks. can I make the ssd as the primary hdd to get the speed out of it? Would I have to replace the regular hdd or can I just add the ssd?

Most desktops can handle 4-6 drives.

You can put them in any order you want. Many people install Windows and Programs on the SSD and then data on the slower, larger drive.

do I have to buy another windows cd to place it in the ssd once I install it? I'm thinking there's a way to freely get it from the old hdd to the ssd

all I need is cloneware to get windows on the ssd from the old drive without buying another windows cd. Can anyone confirm this?

Get an SSD for which there is cloning software as part of the purchase, or check this out.

If you want to reinstall, Windows Vista and 7 ISOs are easy to come by, and an OEM license is fine to move between HDDs, as long as it's the same mobo.
