i agree with the last post. The maximum amount of channels a set of headphones will have is TWO - left and right. The higher quality of headphones just have clearer sound and better insulation against outside noise.

I believe some high end headphones can simulate surround sound. YMMV though because without a real sub, you get no umph in the bass.

They used to make headphones with 2 sets of drivers per ear . . . quadraphonic.

Anyway, quality stereo headphones will sound better - more audiophile - then most speakers - some have really awesome bass. However, if you are a gamer only a few will "image" for games really well.

Grado makes superb "audiophile" stereo headphones for pretty inexpensive (starting around $70).

I like my Onkyo DP-400's a lot. Very clean sound, with a little low-end kick to keep you awake.
Sony's are good if you like your sound to be like studio monitors (i.e. flat responce across the frequency band).

In games, $100 headphones will "image" better than any set of speakers you can find anywhere at any price.

It is amazing how much more you hear. You start to realize how good players can know exactly where you are at all times.

You aren't going to get chest pounding bass, but who needs a distraction like that in thick competition.

I use sony mdr 7506's. I like them a whole lot. They've got good isolation which is verrry important at LANs. They also have a lot of bass for a pair of headphones, everything is clear, and they are extremely rugged. I would highly reccommend them for lans, or the sony mdr v700's.

I've heard various models from sennheiser also. The HD600's are extremely nice, but completely unsuitable for LANs. I wasn't impressed with the rest of the models I heard.

i have a pair of sennheiser HD-535's. I play counterstrike with them and I can place enemies amazingly well. This is true for alot of headphones. In general, headphones produce much better sound than a speaker system of the same cost. I think headphones definitely take advantage of surround sound and all that stuff

<< so what is the solution for make LAN ,imagine two set hometheater in one room...so its waste ? >>

I'm sorry, I couldn't extract anything intelligible from that. I'm guessing English isn't your first language.

Use headphones over speakers will definitely give you an advantage in games like CS. I'd recommend the Sony V6 or Sennheiser 495.

No, not yet. I would sell my soul for what I have in my *ahem* home theatre list of wants and to-die-fors.

Wanna see? I'll PM if you want (too big to post)

I have been looking for the best headphones fer the buck (well my budget anyway, which is $120ish). I have had the grado (the $80model, whatever that is, i gave mine to my bro :) ) and sennheier's(hd570's) and i must say the 570's are SICK. I couldnt find a difference other than look when i went to a local headphone place and compared them to the hd580's. They sell them at best buy fer like $120ish. I was surprised at CPL (Counter Strike world champ) how many people had them.
Good luck to you, and by all means if money isnt much of an issue get the hd580's.
