Guys, dumb question time. I've got a customer that brought me a rig with an Asus A7V-E and a T-Bird 1.4 complaining that it wouldn't start up. Upon closer inspection it wouldn't post at all and there was a horrendous noise and vibration. This was caused by three missing fan blades on the heatsink fan. I didn't have another socket A mobo to check the cpu so I looked mainly at the mobo. The video card was removed and tested fine in another system as did all the rest of the cards. Now that I think about it would excessive vibration, over time, kill a cpu. Since the heatsink fan is not running at optimum speed due to the huge imbalance it wouldn't cool as well and then you have the cpu being directly affected by this terrific vibration. I'll have a chance to test the cpu in a couple of days but just wanted to get your input. Also, I apologize for posting this the first time without anything. I must've had too much blood in my alcohol stream and hit the enter key by mistake! LOL!
