I use Eudora at school to keep tract of my email accounts. At home I tried to set it up but keep getting cannot connect to server errors. I get this error even when I try to connect to my mail.com account which I paid the annual fee for pop3 access. I am using netzero as my ISP at home and was wondering if that was causing the problems.

Thanks in advance,

Glp1

I think that netzero does not allow you to access smtp servers other than their own. I'm not positive on it though. When I use netzero, I have to set the smtp server to the netzero one. Try 1nol, they have no banners and I am able to send mail using servers other than their own.

On this same topic, does anyone know how to set up their own smtp server? So that I could just set up my pop mail accounts to send mail through my own server? Hopefully, the solution will be free. linux can do this right?

i'm sure you could setup your own smtp server with linux, but you may have to use a non-standard smtp port(not port 25) as this is probably what netzero blocks.

Thanks loogie I'll try that tonight when I get home. As for the server, I am sure you can use linux. But I would think you would need a static IP which no free ISP is going to give you.

Thanks again, Glp1
