Can emails "loop" within the host?

I changed my host recently. Since my domain is hosted by NetSol, I used their domain configuration to point it to the new host. A quick WhoIs would reveal that the domain is now fully transferred to the new host. However, the old host is still up and running.

The problem is when a particular client sends me emails, it still goes to the old host's mailbox. For all other clients, their emails are correctly routed to the new host.

1) Is it possible that the "problem" client is using the same "old host" as I do? Therefore, their emails are just "looping" within our common host? If this isn't possible, what causes this problem?

2) If I delete my old host's MX record, would this automatically route all emails from the "problem" client to my new host? If yes, would this happen instantaneously (meaning no emails would be lost in the transition)?

first, I have no idea what you mean by looping. or even a common host.. what host would/do you have in common?!

when you say client, do you mean program or someone who you are offering services to? If the latter, is he using email from his buisness? sounds like what ever DNS server he is using isn't updating itself in nearly the interval it should be. How long ago did you edit your domains ip? The usual wait time for dns propigation is 48 hours before you should be worried.

If your account still exists on the old host, and the 'problem client' is also hosted on the same server as your old host, then yes, it will be delivered locally regardless of what the MX record says. You need to delete your hosting account from the old host and that should cure your problem.
