Can Dogs & Cats get West Nile?

We have all heard about birds getting it, I heard last week of some horses who got it.....what about household pets like dogs & cats?

Anyone have any idea?

Very different from us though. Heck, chimps are even more similar, yet.. they don't need Vitamin C in their diets because their bodies can synthesize it.

Just trying to say.. that doesen't really mean much. :p

I know what you're saying and the way I stated my... er ... statement, it seems like I was really being shortsighted, but I wasn't trying to be ignorant, just lazy :p. I'm pretty sure they can though, I think they said that nothing is really safe from the virus (although it is often not fatal).

It is true, though, there are so many differences even between us and canines/other primates/ etc ... One example (totally off topic) I heard is that rodents can't get rabies (ie, rabid squirrels so many people worry about) and that's a common misconception. Dogs can, however.
