Can CVS transfer prescription refills?

I have a prescription on file with three more refills remaining at my local CVS (in NJ). I go to school in NY. Can I go to my local CVS in NY and refill my prescription? Anything special I need to do beforehand?
 
You can, and there should be noting that you have to do. I took my nephew on vacation for xmas, and he got sick with an ear infection. Dr in NJ called his regular CVS, and we filled it in NC.
