Can ASUS Xonar Essence ST/STX do me a favour?

Gents, i am having some trouble with my sound card. In some games it starts to crackle when a lot of sounds are going on. In STALKER if you move the mouse about when someone is talking it crackles like mad. Can owners please test for me; play a youtube video and move the volume slider up and down and tell me if it crackles. I am running Win 7 64. Cheers.

you may want to try reloading the sound card drivers, or see if there's a more current version available... I would also try the card in another slot, if you can, if you can't, then try reseating it in its current slot..

Mate I tried all sorts.

Installed several versions of drivers including modded and uni drivers for Xonar Series

Tried a different molex.

Tried all combinations of settings in ASUS control panel.

Never had this problem before, I think its a characteristic of this sound card.

Its easily reproduced by moving the volume slider in Youtube - hence why I asked people who own the card to try this out.

Music is fine playing back through Winamp. Just in games in certain situations it can kill the immersion.

Ive owned it recently, never had any crackling problems though, i played games, youtube videos, it was absolutely flawless.

You sure its the soundcard and not your speakers or headset?

Try disabling GX mode the thing that emulates EAX then try the games again.

Its the same on both my speakers and headset.

I wonder if its a bad card?
