Can anyone tell why this 12gb RAM kit is so cheap?

I see several sites here in New Zealand now have a 12gb DDR3 kit for about $100, which is US$67. Aside from if it's some sort of scam, I was wondering if there might be known issues with it or something?

That's correct. BTW, unless your PC happens to use a server motherboard, that RAM is useless to you.

Surely it's a pricing error, missing zero at the end? Kingston's US website has the same kit at $467.00.

If it's a typo, then they aren't aware of the error.
Kingston doesn't knowingly post incorrect prices.

i think he is referring to myocardia's post about not being able to use it in a non fileserver...

it does mention it.. it says right in the name that it is ECC. ECC is error correction that only server motherboards support, you can NOT use it in your regular mobo.

and yea, they are missing a zero there...
