Can anyone tell me what is going on with my router

I have an SMC barricade router on my home network and up until recently I have had no troubles to speak of. What is happening now is that my cable internet (Charter Pipeline :| ) slows down to a crawl at times taking several minutes to load a page such as anandtech. After lots of experimentation I have found that if I turn the router off and right back on again then all is well but i am having to do this more and more frequently lately. And It is no value whatsoever to call charter tech support as now the first thing they do is ask if you have a router and thats the end of it when they LOVE to say we dont support any kind of network setup, thanks for calling and sitting on hold for an hour for me to tell you that.

I wish I had a good answer for ya, but I have seen similar results from my ISP and my netgear, and so have one of my friends with the exact same setup (linux, XP behind netgear, same ISP), we both have to renew our IP's several times nightly. It's the anti-router voodoo... it's all a conspiracy by The Man!!!
