Can anyone tell me about this Antec sx1030b

I saw this deal on the hot deals forum and was wondering if anyone can tell me about it.

deal

I'm gonna build my computer for the first time and was wondering if this might be a good pickup. Any helpful comments will be appreciated. Thanx

You might want to consider some of the Chieftec cases that they sell here at Newegg.com. These are the same cases as the Antec without the case fans and a different power supply. Some of the models with the 420w power supply just went on sale, but that is a good price for the Antec. You won't be sorry about getting one of these.

This is a great price for this case. Two hard drive cages! I had the smaller brother, the SX830, and it was a well constructed case with plenty of fan slots for $99. I don't think you could go wrong getting any Antec case, at least the ones I have seen.

If your interested in going to the Antec 1040b with the larger 400watt power supply you pick one up right now at the lowest I have seen at only $99 at

RIght now, Chieftech is the way to go for price. I believe it uses the same psu as antec (channelwell)??

BUt i'll tell you one thing, that case weighs a ton.

like 33 lbs empty i believe

Any of the Antec SX cases are great. If you want something smaller (and lighter), you could look at the SX600 series which is more the size of most midtowers, although still a pretty heavy one.

I have both the black Antec SX1040B with the Antec 400 watt powersupply and the white Chieftec DX-01WD-400W with a 420 watt Channelwell powersupply. They are both the exact same case except for the powersupply, and the price, except the Antec comes with two 80mm case fans and the Chieftec has none. I paid $109 for the Antec a while back and $69 for the Chieftec last week on sale.
The Chieftec is the way better deal especially if you have some case fans already or plan on buying some sunons or whatever.
The only difference between these and the sx1030b are the powersupplies, but since the price difference is only around $9, i would recommend getting the bigger PS as then you will be set for a long time.
These are the finest cases i have ever owned. The slide out hard drive cages are very handy. Plus they have a place for a 80mm fan in the hard drive cage. So they come stock capable of holding 4 80mm fans and airflow is excellent.
Newegg currently has the black Chieftec DX-01W-300W for $65 and the DX-01WD-400W for $74.
The only downfalls to the case is the weight as they both weigh more empty than most cases weigh full.
so if you do a lot of LAN parties keep this in mind
Also the black isn't really black it is more of a dark charcoal grey.
But for the price these cases can't be beat.
😀

honestly? there's nothing at all wrong with antec/cheiftec/chenming cases. they're built solid as hell, no sharp edges (well, a few, if you know where to look 😉), they're roomy, a pleasure to work on. who cares if it's heavy as long as you don't have to lug it around to lan parties!

I'd stay away from EMS. Not one consumer rating site gives them a good score.

Techonweb is very higly rated and has the 1040b and non-b for $119 +$15 shipping = $134.00

Provantage is also highly rated and has it for $104.69 + $27.45 shipping = $132.14

It is heavy becasue it is built well. I have 2 of the sx10x0 series. Awesome cases. I have ordered a # of things from EMS and NEVER had a problem. my1040b came in under 5 days!

I have never had a case I liked as much as my Antec sx1030. I'm currently doing tons of mods on it (well, not much lately due to time constraints, but I have big plans). Check out what I'm doing with mine (link to mycasemods.com in .sig) to see what I'm working on. By far, this is the sturdiest and most workable case I've ever owned - even better than my Inwin Q500. As others have said, spend a little extra to get a 400 watt or higher power supply, as you can stuff so much in the case that you'll probably need the extra power. Get the case - you won't be sorry.
