Can anyone recommend some options for the followings apps? Also, NeoOffice help?

I need replacements for a few applications, and was hoping someone could make some suggestions:

1. File expander. I'd prefer to have one program for RAR, 7zip, etc., and having been soiled by Ubuntu, I'd prefer not to pay for it.

2. IRC client. I really don't need anything fancy here - it just has to work reliably and not eat a whole bunch of CPU power.

3. Freebie games. Is "Battle for Wesnoth" my only option? I'm especially interested in a Scrabble clone, if such a thing exists.

4. A GUI for Wine so I don't have to do things from the shell.

Also, does anyone know how to program NeoOffice so that a shortcut (say, command-N) will produce a certain character? I've been typing a lot in Spanish, and this would make this a lot easier; however, so far I've been able to get it to do almost everything short of insert a character.

Thanks!

1: The UnArchiver may do what you need, but having multiple free applications isn't a terribad thing.

2: No idea. Have you checked out Adium? Can it do IRC?

3: Um... I don't know, dont game much in OS X. Where are you looking?

4: CrossOver

5: OS X includes key commands for foreign (to USA) characters. Umlauts, accents, all kinds of things. I cannot recall the sequence right now, but I believe that you hit the key command and then the letter that you want modified and it goes from there. In System Preferences, you can also re-assign any shortcut you wish in any application (except Office).

I have a project I call Wineskin... its focused on making Wine more Mac like... its mostly all GUI controlled, and focused on making Mac .apps... so you get a final product that works very similar to a native Mac app...

To type an ñ, type Option+N, then type "n". To type an umlaut, Option+U, then the umlauted character (so to make ä, type Option+U, then "a"). Acute accents are Option+E, é. ¿ is Option+Shift+/ (basically, Option-?). ¡ is Option-1.

That is a good list of stuff, nice link episodic. I use some of those myself such as Transmission, Handbrake, VLC and Perian.
