Can anyone recommend some free remote hosted message board service?

Just buy your own domain and partake in the free ATOT hosting thread. Total cost = ~$8/year.

If you can swing $10/year, you could go with DreamHost.com (plan L1 for 1 year, enter coupon code 777) and install a free forum package of your choice.

It's a school club website and they wanted me to add a message board.
They already have the domain, would that work or do I have to buy it through anandtech?

if they have the domain, all they need to buy is hosting. then you can install something like phpbb on it. if your school already has hosting, just make sure that your school's host supports php and the other modules/components necessary for the install.

The host from where they got the domain don't support php, so I couldn't use phpbb. I tried to setup other stuff by myself, too many errors and complains.

I think the best way would be to do a remote message board if anyone can offer some good suggestions.

Thanks

Do you have the ability to set up a subdomain? If so, I can provide you with hosting for that subdomain.

I'm not sure if it can. It's not my domain so I don't have access to go check that kind of settings. What i've been doing is making individual html pages for them and they upload it themselves.

That's not really efficient and is a PITA in my opinion, talk them into changing it, tell them how you will benefit along with the website.
