Oh wait, they haven't finished it yet.... But it's only been about 10 years....

What you didn't download the beta, it's got the coolest startup screen and then that's it. :)

I've been playing through Quake II the last few days.

Even my mediocre system (P4 @ ~2.4 + GF4) can easily handle 1600x1200 with the details cranked, & the gameplay is hard to beat. There's just something so classic about a super shotgun.

:D

I'm buying all the expansion packs from a guy in FS/FT, I'll be playing Quake for months to come.

I loved Quake 2 back in the day - that was my intro to online gaming (I had skipped directly from a 486/33 to a Pentium II-233). I played endless amounts of Q2, Lithium, and Action Quake, all of which are still great. I got that first expansion pack as a bundle with my Canopus Voodoo 2 card (!), and it was the most annoying thing ever. It's very hard, and the new enemies were more irritating than anything. You would have to fight off a massive flock of them, get down to 10 HP, and be rewarded with a box of MG ammo - SO frustrating!

I need to reinstall Q2 one of these days and get back online with it . . .

Postal 2 is pretty entertaining.

I know you said your connection sucks ... but Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory is pretty sweet (multiplayer only)
Also the original Half Life (while the graphics suck compared to many of todays games) had the best story of any FPS I had ever played.
