Can anyone recommend FREE Antivirus?

I need to find a good Antivirus program Freeware if possible. I'm over Norton Antivirus.
Any help would be great!

i really like Avast!. it has like 6 different scanners (P2P specific, IM specific, mail, systems, etc) that you can turn on and off. only uses like 17MB on my system. i

Schadenfroh's AV roundup review doesn't have the new version of free AVG included in it yet, does it? All I saw was 6.0, not 7.0... I'd like to see how its detection rates are compared to the 6.0 version.

I'm using antivir on my laptop. It's pretty nice with a simple, clean interface. The detection rate isn't bad either.

Just thought I'd let whoever wants to know that I went and found Trilobyte's updated detection rate tests from SpywareInfo.com (where Schadenfroh get's the detection rate results from), and AVG 7 was showing a 69% detection rate...

i used the detection rate from the 7.0 version


I reccomend antivir, see my review for why it is better than AVG and aVast

I used to run AVG a lot but it seemed to corrupt on me a couple times. Would claim I had a trojan, then I'd scan and find nothing. It would popup that I had a trojan every 2 minutes, really annoying. Only happened twice, and I used it a long time. Only ever found one virus though, I'm not exactly a target...
