Can anyone recommend any good multiplayer strategy games that can be played online?

I'm pretty big into UT but my friends are no longer interested in playing. They'd rather play something like Civilization 3 but there is no online version of it just yet.

Any ideas? I was big into Master of Magic/Orion, VGA Planets, CivNet, etc but I've been out of the strategy loop for a while.

BTW: No RPGs like Diablo 2, what they're interested in are strategy games.

Maybe not Starcraft or C&C but stuff like Ages of Empires or Civilization.

Anything new out now or coming out soon that is interesting?

AOE II is very good.. i still play it regularly, just ask my wife! lol

also, consider Roboforge. its not a traditional strategy game, but has a very large strategy component.
