OK - I am just about convinced on the merits of shaving in the shower. Seeing as how I'll be spending some extra time in there, I would like to get a decent shower radio (I like to listen to local AM news and talk radio in the morning). Something with a fog-free mirror would be nice, but not necessary (I can get a mirror seperately). The basic requirments are decent reception, sound quality (I am not expexting audiophile quality here - but static free and powerful enough to hear above the rushing water), and price (the lower the better ;) )

After reading many a disappointing review, I found this model:

SONY ICF-CD73

PERFECT - except for the price......$$$!!!!!! yowza!

Many of the models I found I could not find revies for. Soooooo, I do what any good faithful ATOTer does - beg for help/opinions from the netziens on ATOT!!! :)

Anyone recommend one the sounds good and is INEXPENSIVE? (for me CD capability is not necessary, but a welcome bonus)

I found one on clearance at Kohls for $20. YMMV. I looked around at shower CD players for years and it took me forever to find one for under $50.

That's funny, I found a shower CD player/radio on clearance at Target for $20 or so after Christmas 2002. I think it's some off-brand rebadged for Target. It uses 6 "C" batteries IIRC and the sound quality is very tinny, but it works fine for $20.

Just sing! Get a kid to come sing for you! ;)

Seriously, I've tried a few over the years, and they all suck. My wife uses them, but the reception is crap on every one I've used.

mine works great, but I'm always tripping over the cord. Nothing worse than being all soaped up and having to get out of the shower to plug it back in!

;)

I just saw that one last night and thought of this thread haha!

They are all "good enough." It's a radio for the shower. As long as it plays and you can hear it....what do you want?

I bought a couple at Sharper Image's web site that are digital tuning. I think they were refurb clearance and were only $10 each with a free shipping coupon. I am not sure if they are still available. 3 C batteries. It is not wonderful sound but it keeps my neighbors happy because I am not blasting my computer speakers or stereo speakers to hear through walls in the shower.

Exactly... and my transcendent singing overpowers the music anyway. :D
