Can anyone recommend a good riding lawn mower?

My friend is looking to get a riding lawn mower soon since he's sick of mowing his 2 acre yard with a self-propelled mower. He doesn't have a clue what to look for and thought he could get some recommendations here.

Any recommendations?

You can get a Snapper 281022BE Rear Engine Rider for about $1,000.00 at Walmart. If you want bigger than 28" deck, or rear bagging, it's available... for a price. Snapper is a great company to go with. They've been in business forever, and stock parts just as long. Hell, if you're going to buy used, buy the Snapper rider. Like I said, parts are always available to keep it rolling. If your used Snapper dies, you can get a new 12.5HP replacement engine for $335.00 shipped!

You only live once. Spring for a nice one with all the bells and whistles. You'll own it for a LONG time. I've had my similar beast since 1986.

Edit: For two acres, it's time to move up to the big boys! Commercial Walk Behinds

Deere, ours is solid but i wish my dad had bought a walk behind, so much nicer, and easier to turn around

(4 acres mowed, plus 3 acres semi annually mowed)

WTF? You would prefer a walk behind for 4 acres? You are insane.

I think he's talking about a professional lawn care powered reel mower maybe ganged sections. (Actually, you ride a stand up platform on a lot of them, not walk.) Otherwise, he's worse than insane, he's self destructive.

Definitely Deere. I have the L120 with a 48" deck, 22HP Briggs and Stratton engine. Runs very well. Costs about 2200.

We have around 3 acres (with a slope at the back), and since we're in the Northeast we also get snow (so the tractor doubles as a snow plow)... so we have this:
John Deere GX345
We've always had good experience with John Deeres

Anything with a Honda engine.

Doesen't Deere use Briggs? Bah.. Don't get me wrong, I love Briggs.. but.. unless it's a Vanguard or I/C, they're pretty cheap.
