I've been working in ColdFusion now for 5 years, and want to start playing with Flex (which from what I have read integrates well with CF).

At a recent XMAS party for my local CF User Group we also hosted the Flex user group. A lot of free books were given out, including an O'Reilly Getting Started with Flex, but it was too impersonal. It simply gave examples and the code. It did not explain what the code meant/what the code did.

So what I am asking is if anyone knows of a good book on Flex that walks you through from the ground up.

Thanks!

Scott

"Flex in a Week" is a good place to start. sort of a week long online
training course. the first ap interfaces with the flicker API to download
pictures of whatever you tell it to search for.

somehow, mysteriously, all the images are porn-free !!

also probably has some good (free) Flex stuff.

plus any good references on XML, since it seems like Flex is part
XML editor, part actionscript SDK.

Thanks wwswimming. I have checked out the Flex in a Week video in the past and may have to resort to using it. I am a hard copy kind of guy so thats the reason I was asking.

Shupe & Zosser, the authors of "Learning Actionscript 3", may have a book about
Flex coming out - just a guess. they seem very busy, and i'm hearing a lot about
Flex & the Flex SDK.

sometimes if you buy a book, you can obtain access to the PDF of the book,
which is even better. you can search for a category like "Netstream", then do a
search within that category for "method", to find methods of the Netstream function.

easier than using the index, which may not have an entry for "Netstream Methods".
