Trash Heap

On the bottom row there's a GFX card with a fan and L shaped RAM. Can anyone identify it please?

Does anyone recognise the rest of the cards? Think of it as a quiz if you want.

Do you have access to the actual cards, or just this image?

If so, the image is too small to really tell accurately.

If you have access to the cards, reading the model number, part number or FCC ID information may allow you to do further research on it.

No, it's an auction I've found with someone getting rid of their old ISA and PCI network and gfx cards. I'm hoping someone here has owned that GFX card and tell me what it's like. I've asked the seller and am waiting for a reply

Well I am assuming your talking about the video card 3rd from the right.

Looks like an Nvidia lay out but not sure. Early geforce boards used to have that L shaped memory lay out like that.

But identifing the board from this picture will be next to impossible unless someone actually remembers the card.

That's the one I mean, yeah. It looks like an AGP one to me, so it'll be useless for this system I'm tinkering with.

I can't be sure from the crude image, but my guess would be that it might be a GeForce 256 (GeForce-1) or possibly GeForce-2 (GT) card. The fan & memory layout resembles what I remember about those cards (I owned both a GeForce 256 and GeForce 2 GT at one time).

P.S.
It's definately NOT a Voodoo... I still have mine (for nostalgia)... my hunch is GeForce 256, but possibly GeForce 2 GT (as they shared nearly identical layouts).

Wow I could see how you could think it was a pny mx400. It looks very close. But the heatsink/fan is different and the chip that is between the heatsink and the front of the card is in a different position than the one in the pic.

But again the picture is too low of res to really be totally sure.

As I mentioned, it's DEFINATELY an AGP early NVidia GeForce layout... either GeForce 256 or GeForce 2... exact make and model I'm not sure, but it's a GF1 or GF2 card of sorts... definately NOT PCI, NOT Voodoo or NOT GeForce3 or above.

I suppose, genghis, I might buy the lot if I can get them for a very low price. The auction is up for another 5 or 6 days, so I'll have to wait. The AGP cards are going to be more or less useless to me, I don't think I can sell them on, but I like to collect old junk like this anyway. I'm fascinated by that card with that giant black heatsink on the top row. I'd love to know what that is.

I did an image search on Google for GeForce, the AGP one with the fan does look a fair bit like the 256s I found - but in the images on there the PCB seems to protrude another centimeter or so at the top of the card, relative to the RAM, compared to the one in the blurry auction pic, and the one in the mobo has a dark coloured PCB, but I suppose that could be a trick of the light.

Aha, just got a response from the seller.

"Hi, could you tell me what model of gfx card that one on the bottom row with the fan is please?"

AGP nVidia GeForce MX440 SE 64M W/TV (Fan) AGP S3 Trio 3D/2X AGP STB Nitro DVD 2 x PCI ATI Rage II +DVD (Graphics) 2 x PCI S3 Trio 64 (Graphics) 3 x D-Link DFE 530 TX (Network) PCI Genius GM56 (Modem) Others please ask......

Not bad at all! I just hope the bids stay low!

Ofcourse, if I buy these I will be willing to trade all of these for a single, piddly 6800GT. Remember "More Cards = More Power" ;) Any offers?
