Can anyone help me choose a GPU please?

Just built my brother a computer and he told me he doesn't use any 3D programs, but apparently he does lol.

He needs to run google sketch up adequately, but this radeon HD4250 integrated card isn't cutting it. SO I have to get a him a GPU.

I've gotta get it tomorrow so that leaves Frys, BB, etc. Any suggestions?
 
First of all, check to make sure you have a CompUSA or a MicroCenter around you. They usually give better offers than BB or Frys.

Second, we gotta know what the computer looks like. We need the specs and SPECIALLY and SPECIFICALLY the PSU.

Well he's gonna get a nicer monitor later when he's got the cash, so right now he's using a oldish kinda crappy LCD monitor. No gaming. Other specs:

AMD Phenom ii x4 3.2ghz
8gb ram
Antec 500w psu (model EA500)
 
That's better, but you forgot to give us a budget. Anything up to an HD6870/GTX560 should work perfectly with that PSU, CPU is fine.

Yea, you're better off doing it online. For $99 you can get a GTX260, which is a decent card for the price.

Beware though, you don't get warranty on that card, since the manufacturer went out of biz.

After that, for decent gaming, your best option for around $130 is a GTX 460 768.
 
HD4850 for under $50 is an awesome deal. It will destroy everything that you can usually buy for $100 or less.
 
Sweet, thanks guys. He doesn't need Direct X 11 so this should be fine. Meets the requirements of at least 512mb VRAM and OpenGL 1.5 or above.
