Google isn't turning up much, mostly stuff about MS Outlook. My question is, is this something that may be better for me to keep docs on my notebook in sync with my desktop instead of using sync software?
It's mainly used in a client server situation where the client is usually a laptop. Allowing offline files will copy needed files to the laptop so that you can access them while away from the server. When the laptop is connected back to the server, any changes to the files will be copied back to the server over writing the old files with the changes.
